The Wandering Maker

Smuggler's Moon

Moon Runners

They signed up to hunt criminals. They were Lawful Good and proud of it — a crew of naval adventurers sworn to protect the shipping lanes and bring smugglers to justice under the crown's banner.

Then they boarded a smuggling vessel and found families in the hold. Refugees — three hundred of them — being moved to safety through the only routes left open after the crown sealed the legal ones. The smugglers weren't criminals. They were the last humanitarian operation on the water.

This is the album where Lawful Good meets Neutral Good and has to decide which one matters more. A Dropkick Murphys-style maritime punk journey from badge-wearing enforcers of the law to moon runners sailing for the people.

Sometimes good means breaking free. Sometimes the law is the villain. And sometimes the smuggler's moon is the only light worth sailing by.

Track 2
HORIZON'S EDGE
The anchor's up, we're cutting through the morning tide The crew is singing shanties with our purpose as our guide The quartermaster points out all the merchant ships we guard "Good honest trade," he tells us, "and we keep them free from harm" The navigator charts our course beneath the open sky The lookout's in the crow's nest keeping watch with sharpened eyes We're scanning for the criminals who run beneath the moon The captain swears we'll catch them and we'll catch them very soon We're rolling high on righteousness, the wind is at our sail We're the ones who'll bring these smugglers to the jail Out here on horizon's edge where the law meets the sea Out here on horizon's edge, we're exactly where we're meant to be Every wave that hits the hull reminds us why we fight We're the line between the chaos and the light On horizon's edge! Standing on the edge! The paladin is training with a purpose in each swing The fighter's trading stories 'bout the justice that we bring The wizard's calculating smuggler patterns in her charts The bard is writing ballads of our noble, lawful hearts We pass a merchant vessel, cargo gleaming in the sun The captain hails them friendly, "Safe travels, everyone" Their hold is full of riches heading to the mainland ports "This is what we're protecting," says the first mate with support Natural twenty on our morale today We're hunting down the criminals who threaten the trade way Out here on horizon's edge where the law meets the sea Out here on horizon's edge, we're exactly where we're meant to be Every wave that hits the hull reminds us why we fight We're the line between the chaos and the light On horizon's edge! Standing on the edge! Salt spray in our faces! Wind filling our sails! Justice in our purpose! We're the storm that never fails! Steady as she goes! (Steady as she goes!) Following the code! We're the lawful and the good and we sail with righteous pride! Out here on horizon's edge where the law meets the sea! Out here on horizon's edge, we're exactly where we're meant to be! Every wave that hits the hull reminds us why we fight! We're the line between the chaos and the light! On horizon's edge! (We stand!) Standing on the edge! (We defend!) On horizon's edge! We're sailing to the end! *Horizon's calling, duty's clear* *No room for doubt, no room for fear* *We're the edge, we're the line* *And everything is gonna be just fine...* ---
Track 3
MOON RUNNERS
"Contact on the starboard bow!" the lookout's cry rings out A ship with no flag flying, running silent, running doubt The captain orders battle stations, crew is at the ready "This is what we trained for, keep your weapons sharp and steady" We're gaining on them quickly, they're faster than they look They're weaving through the coastline like they wrote the smuggler's book The moon is bright above us, lighting up their sails "They call them moon runners," says the bosun, "they never leave a trail" Roll for initiative, the chase is heating up We're closing in for justice, we're calling their bluff Moon runners on the water, shadows on the sea Moon runners on the water, they're not getting away from me We're the law that's gonna catch them, we're the hand of consequence Moon runners better pray tonight for their deliverance They're moon runners! But we're faster, we're smarter! We fire a warning shot across their weathered bow They slow their vessel down but something's different now Their crew looks tired, frightened, not like criminals at all More like desperate people answering a call We board their ship with weapons drawn, expecting a fight But they just raise their hands up underneath the moonlight "We're not armed," their captain says, "we're not who you think" The paladin is hesitating, standing on the brink Something's wrong here, something doesn't fit the tale These don't look like villains, they look tired, scared, and pale Moon runners on the water, shadows on the sea Moon runners on the water, not what we thought they'd be We're the law that's gonna catch them, we're the hand of consequence But moon runners aren't fighting back, where's their defense? They're moon runners! But something's wrong here! The captain of their vessel, she's got scars upon her hands "You don't understand what you're doing, you don't understand our plans" "We're not the criminals, we're trying to save lives" "Check our cargo hold and you'll see we don't lie" The rogue says "Let me check it out, something isn't right" The fighter says "They could be lying, trying to avoid the fight" The wizard's rolling insight checks, trying to understand Who are these moon runners? What's their contraband? Moon runners on the water, shadows on the sea Moon runners on the water, who are they supposed to be? We're the law that's here to stop them, we're the hand of consequence But moon runners aren't what we expected, nothing makes sense They're moon runners! (Are they villains?) We're the hunters! (Are we heroes?) Moon runners! (Something's changing!) Are we sure we know the truth? *Moon runners caught beneath our watch* *But the story doesn't match* *Moon runners, who are you?* *What's the cargo? What's the truth?* ---
Track 4
THE HOLD
The rogue descends the ladder with a lantern in her hand The rest of us are waiting, trying to understand The captain's orders echo: "Find the contraband below" But something in her silence tells us things we didn't know She climbs back up in silence, her face has lost its color "You need to see this for yourselves," she says, "like no other" The fighter and the paladin climb down into the dark What we find in the cargo hold will leave a permanent mark This isn't weapons, this isn't stolen gold This is something that will shake us to our souls There are people in the hold, there are families down below There are people in the hold with nowhere else to go Children holding onto parents in the darkness and the fear There are people in the hold, and suddenly it's clear We're not the heroes of this story We're not the ones fighting for glory There are people in the hold And we've been lied to from the start A woman steps out slowly with her daughter by her side "Please," she says, "we're running, we just need somewhere to hide" "The merchants sell our people, chain us up and ship us out" "The moon runners saved us, that's what this is about" An old man shows his scars, the brands upon his arms "I worked the merchant vessels under threat of grievous harm" "These smugglers freed me, gave me passage to the shore" "The 'legal' ships you're guarding? They're the ones who wanted more" Natural one on our perception of what's right We've been sailing for the wrong side of this fight There are people in the hold, there are families down below There are people in the hold with nowhere else to go Children holding onto parents in the darkness and the fear There are people in the hold, and suddenly it's clear We're not the heroes of this story We're not the ones fighting for glory There are people in the hold And we've been lied to from the start The paladin is kneeling, oath weighing on her chest "I swore to protect the innocent, but who are we protecting best?" The fighter drops his weapon, hands are shaking with the truth The cleric's trying to process, the bard's recording proof We joined to hunt the criminals We thought we knew the score But the people in the cargo hold Aren't criminals at all The smugglers aren't the villains! The merchants are the crime! We've been hunting down the heroes This whole goddamn time! There are people in the hold, there are families down below! There are people in the hold and we almost didn't know! Children holding onto parents, running from their chains and fear! There are people in the hold, and the truth is crystal clear! We're not the heroes of this story! (What have we done?) We've been sailing blind in glory! (We were so wrong!) There are people in the hold! And our orders are a lie! There are people in the hold! And we have to choose a side! *There are people in the hold* *Families, children, souls* *There are people in the hold* *And nothing is what we were told...* *Nothing is what we were told...* ---
Track 5
MUTINY OF THE MIND
The paladin's on deck alone, staring at the stars "I swore an oath to uphold law, no matter how it scars" "But what's the point of duty if the law itself is wrong?" "My order says obey, but my heart says move along" The fighter's in the galley, fists are clenched in rage "We've been sailing for the slavers, we're the villains on this stage" The rogue is already certain: "We let these people go" But the wizard's calculating, "It's not that simple though" We're rolling with disadvantage on every choice we make We're torn between our orders and what's truly at stake This is mutiny of the mind, mutiny of the soul This is mutiny of the mind, losing all control Do we follow our orders or follow what's right? Are we lawful good soldiers or do we stand and fight? Mutiny of the mind! We're running out of time! Every choice feels like a crime! The captain's at the helm, demanding our report "Did you find contraband? What's taking this so long?" The bosun's getting restless, crew is watching close If we tell them what we've seen, we'll be branded as the foes The bard is writing everything, documenting proof "The world needs to know the truth, even if it means we lose" The cleric's in the chapel, praying for a sign "My god demands compassion but also honor's line" Natural twenty on confusion, natural one on being sure We thought we knew the mission but we don't know anymore This is mutiny of the mind, mutiny of the soul This is mutiny of the mind, losing all control Do we follow our orders or follow what's right? Are we lawful good soldiers or do we stand and fight? Mutiny of the mind! We're running out of time! Every choice feels like a crime! *(Paladin): "But we swore an oath!"* *(Rogue): "To protect the innocent!"* *(Fighter): "These people ARE innocent!"* *(Wizard): "But breaking ranks means we're the criminals!"* *(Cleric): "Which is worse - breaking law or breaking faith?"* *(Bard): "Which story will we tell when this is done?"* *(All): "Are we heroes or are we accomplices to hate?"* *(All): "We have to choose - which side are we on?"* We're not neutral anymore! Standing still is taking sides! If we let them take these people We're the reason that hope dies! Lawful good meant something once! But the law's not always right! Sometimes doing good means breaking chains And standing up to fight! This is mutiny of the mind, but clarity breaks through! This is mutiny of the mind, now we know what we must do! We won't follow orders that betray what we believe! We're not lawful good soldiers - we're the ones who'll set them free! Mutiny of the mind! (We've made our choice!) We're done wasting time! (We've found our voice!) This is mutiny of the mind! And we're crossing the line! *The law says turn them over* *But our conscience says defend* *This is where the lawful good* *Becomes neutral good instead* *Mutiny of the mind...* *But liberation of the heart* ---
Track 6
CUT THE CHAINS
The rogue stands on the deck and says "I'm done with following orders" The fighter's right beside her: "We're not guarding slavers' borders" The paladin takes off her badge, drops it to the ground "My oath is to the innocent, and I know what I've found" The captain's shouting orders but we're not listening anymore The bosun's drawing weapons but we're heading for the door The moon runner captain watches as we make our choice "We're letting these people go," we say with unified voice Roll for initiative - we're starting a new fight Natural twenty on doing what is right Cut the chains! Set them free! Cut the chains! This is who we're meant to be! We're not your soldiers anymore, we're not your faithful crew! We're standing with the broken and we're breaking with you! Cut the chains! (Let them go!) Cut the chains! (Now they know!) We choose the people over the crown! We're burning our uniforms and tearing this system down! The wizard's casting spells to shield the refugees from harm The cleric's healing injuries, the bard is raising the alarm "Let the world know what we've seen, let the truth be told!" The fighter's holding back the crew while the refugees take hold The moon runner captain's crew is helping families aboard "You're throwing your lives away," the bosun says with his sword "No," the paladin answers, "we're finding them for the first time" "Upholding evil law? Now THAT would be the crime" We failed our lawful good alignment check today But we rolled a nat twenty on finding the right way Cut the chains! Every chain that hits the deck! Every lock that we reject! Every person walking free! This is who we're meant to be! They'll call us traitors! (We don't care!) They'll call us criminals! (We'll be there!) They'll hunt us down like we hunted the moon runners! But we're on the right side of history, brothers and sisters! We're not lawful! We're not neutral! We're the good that breaks the rules! We're the ones who saw the truth and chose to act! Cut the chains and there's no going back! Cut the chains! Set them free! Cut the chains! This is who we're meant to be! We're not your soldiers anymore, we're not your faithful crew! We're standing with the oppressed and we're coming after you! Cut the chains! (Freedom now!) Cut the chains! (We made our vow!) We choose the people over the crown! We're moon runners now and we'll never back down! *Saltwater and steel meant something new* *Not hunting the smugglers - we're smugglers too* *Cut the chains, set them free* *This is neutral good - this is how it's meant to be* *Cut the chains...* *We're free...* ---
Track 7
MARKED BY THE CROWN
Three ships on the horizon bearing naval flags of war Our former captain's leading them, the ones we sailed for before "All hands to stations!" shouts the moon runner at the wheel We're fugitives now, and the danger's getting real The signal flags are flying: "Surrender or be sunk" "You're traitors to the crown, you're criminals and drunk On false morality that breaks the nation's laws" But we know what we saw, we know the righteous cause They're rolling for attack, we're rolling to survive We chose this path and now we fight to stay alive We're marked by the crown, branded as the enemy Marked by the crown, outlaws on the sea They'll hunt us to the edge of every chart and every shore But we're marked by the crown for saving lives, not starting war Marked by the crown! (We wear it proud!) Marked by the crown! (We're standing loud!) They can chase us to the end of the world But we're marked by the crown for the truth we've unfurled! Cannonfire erupts across the bow, we're weaving through the waves The paladin is praying while the fighter's looking brave The wizard's casting wind spells, pushing sails to max speed "These refugees need passage and we're giving them the lead!" The rogue is at the rigging, cutting loose unnecessary weight The bard is singing shanties: "We're not gonna meet our fate!" The cleric's tending wounded from the shrapnel and the blast The moon runner captain's grinning: "Hold on tight and hold fast!" Natural twenty on our seamanship tonight We're marked by the crown but we're winning this fight We're marked by the crown, branded as the enemy Marked by the crown, outlaws on the sea They'll hunt us to the edge of every chart and every shore But we're marked by the crown for saving lives, not starting war Marked by the crown! (We wear it proud!) Marked by the crown! (We're standing loud!) They can chase us to the end of the world But we're marked by the crown for the truth we've unfurled! Our former brothers in arms! Our former sisters in sail! They think they're hunting criminals But they don't know the tale! Maybe one day they'll see what we saw! Maybe one day they'll question the law! Maybe one day they'll understand We were marked by the crown for taking a stand! Fire the cannons! (Not to kill!) Warning shots! (Show our skill!) We're not murderers, we're not the threat! We're just the ones who won't forget! The refugees are counting on us! The innocent depend on trust! We're marked by the crown, marked as wrong! But we'll keep running, we'll stay strong! We're marked by the crown, branded as the enemy! Marked by the crown, outlaws on the sea! They'll hunt us to the edge of every chart and every shore! But we're marked by the crown and we're fighting for something more! Marked by the crown! (Badges of honor!) Marked by the crown! (We'll go farther!) They can chase us to the end of the world! We're marked by the crown and our flag is unfurled! *Three ships chasing, we're pulling ahead* *Marked by the crown but we're not dead* *Saltwater, steel, and hearts that won't yield* *Marked by the crown - our fate is sealed* *But we chose right...* *We chose right...* ---
Track 8
SAFE HARBOR
The lighthouse breaks the darkness as we navigate the reef A hidden cove, a secret port, a sanctuary of relief The moon runner captain signals to the watchers on the shore "Another run successful, got thirty souls or more" The refugees are crying as they see the land ahead Children pointing, laughing, "Are we safe?" a mother said The paladin says softly, "Yes, you're safe, you're finally free" And for the first time since we mutinied, we know what we're meant to be Natural twenty on compassion, rolling high on hope This is what it means to help people truly cope Welcome to safe harbor, welcome to the shore Welcome to safe harbor, you don't have to run anymore Every chain is broken, every fear can fade away Welcome to safe harbor, this is your new day Safe harbor! (You're home now!) Safe harbor! (You've shown how!) This is what we're fighting for Every soul who makes it through the door An old man kisses the ground, tears streaming down his face A family holds each other in a long-awaited embrace The woman from the cargo hold finds us on the deck "You saved our lives," she tells us, "when you put yours at risk" The fighter's got tears rolling, trying to wipe them away The wizard's calculating how many more we can save each day The rogue is already planning the next run with the crew The bard is writing down the names of everyone who made it through We failed at being lawful but we're winning at being good We're doing what we always should have understood Welcome to safe harbor, welcome to the shore Welcome to safe harbor, you don't have to run anymore Every chain is broken, every fear can fade away Welcome to safe harbor, this is your new day Safe harbor! This is what we're fighting for Every soul who makes it through the door This is what a hero looks like Not a uniform or crown This is what a hero does Helps the broken, tears walls down We were hunting for glory We were chasing the wrong fight But here in safe harbor We finally got it right There are more ships waiting! Welcome to safe harbor, welcome to the shore! Welcome to safe harbor, you don't have to run anymore! Every chain we're breaking, every life we're setting free! This is safe harbor - this is who we're meant to be! Safe harbor! (We found our calling!) Safe harbor! (We're not falling!) This is what we're fighting for! Every soul who makes it through the door! Welcome to safe harbor! This is neutral good at war! *The moon is rising, calling us back* *More people waiting, more souls to unpack* *Safe harbor's behind us, open sea ahead* *We're moon runners forever, marked but not dead* *This is safe harbor...* *And we're bringing more home...* ---
Track 9
THE MOON RUNNER'S CODE
In a tavern by the harbor where the crown will never look A dozen captains gather, sharing maps and routes by book The moon runner introduces us: "These are the ones who turned" The room erupts in cheers and drinks - respect that must be earned An old sailor with gray beard stands and raises up his glass "You gave up everything you had to help these people pass" "Welcome to the brotherhood, the sisterhood of night" "We sail beneath the smuggler's moon and we do what is right" Rolling insight checks, we finally understand This isn't just a handful - it's a network across the land This is the moon runner's code, never leave them behind This is the moon runner's code, freedom for humankind When the law is unjust, we become the outlaw's creed We're the moon runner's code, and we sail for those in need Moon runner's code! (We stand together!) Moon runner's code! (In any weather!) Saltwater and steel with hearts of gold Living by the moon runner's code! They show us secret signals, how to know who's safe and true Hidden marks on tavern doors, colored flags that serve as clues "The network spans the coastline, every port and every bay" "We move a thousand souls a month, and more are on the way" A captain with a scar shows us routes we never knew Safe havens, friendly harbors, people who will see us through "The merchants have their money, the crown has got its law" "But we've got something better - we've got what they never saw" Natural twenty on understanding what we've joined This is bigger than one crew - it's a movement, it's a point This is the moon runner's code, never leave them behind This is the moon runner's code, freedom for humankind When the law is unjust, we become the outlaw's creed We're the moon runner's code, and we sail for those in need Moon runner's code! (We stand together!) Moon runner's code! (In any weather!) Saltwater and steel with hearts of gold Living by the moon runner's code! From every port and harbor! From every ship and sail! We're captains, we're deckhands! We're the ones who will not fail! When you see the signal! (We answer the call!) When you hear the whistle! (We stand tall!) When the moon is rising! (We're on the move!) When freedom's at stake! (We've got nothing to prove!) What do we sail for? (Freedom!) What do we fight for? (People!) What do we live for? (Justice!) What's our code? (Moon runners!) This is the moon runner's code, never leave them behind! This is the moon runner's code, freedom for humankind! When the law is unjust, we become the outlaw's creed! Track 10
THE MERCHANT'S HOLD
Intelligence comes in from a contact on the docks "Merchant ship's in harbor, got a cargo full of locks" "Fifty souls in chains below, leaving with the tide" "If we don't move tonight, there's nowhere they can hide" The moon runner captain warns us: "This is not a normal run" "Merchant ships have guards and weapons, this won't be much fun" But the paladin just nods and says "We didn't come this far to wait" "Fifty people need us now, we're crashing through that gate" Roll for stealth, roll for speed We're going in to meet the need Into the merchant's hold, where the chains are bound tight Into the merchant's hold, we're fighting through the night Every lock we're breaking, every soul we're setting free Into the merchant's hold - this is what it means to be Moon runners! (Taking the fight to them!) Moon runners! (We're not backing down again!) Into the merchant's hold we go And we're bringing everyone home! We board in the darkness, rogue is picking every lock The wizard's casting silence so the guards can't raise the block The fighter's at the door, keeping watch for any threat The cleric's in the hold whispering "Don't worry, not yet" Fifty faces looking up with hope mixed with fear "We're moon runners," the bard says, "and we're getting you out of here" But then the alarm bell's ringing, guards are coming fast "Get them to the boats!" we shout, "Move, move, move at last!" Initiative is called, this is gonna get rough Natural twenty on courage - we've got to be tough Into the merchant's hold, where the chains are bound tight Into the merchant's hold, we're fighting through the night Every lock we're breaking, every soul we're setting free Into the merchant's hold - this is what it means to be Moon runners! (Taking the fight to them!) Moon runners! (We're not backing down again!) Into the merchant's hold we go And we're bringing everyone home! Steel on steel, the guards attack! Covering the refugees' backs! The paladin's oath is burning bright! "Not one more person slaves tonight!" The fighter takes a blade! The wizard's spells cascade! The rogue is moving people fast! "Go, go, go! We'll make this last!" Twenty people on the boats! Thirty more! Keep hope afloat! Forty souls are getting free! "Ten more! Come on! Follow me!" Guards are closing in fast! "This might be our last!" "No!" the cleric shouts with healing hands! "Everyone's getting out! That's where we stand!" Out of the merchant's hold, every chain is broken tonight! Out of the merchant's hold, we survived the fight! Every lock we shattered, every soul we set free! Out of the merchant's hold - this is our destiny! Moon runners! (We saved them all!) Moon runners! (We answered the call!) From the merchant's hold we came Fifty souls and we learned their names! *Bleeding but we're breathing* *Wounded but we won* *Fifty souls are free tonight* *And our work's not done* *The merchant's hold is empty* *But there's always one more* *This is the moon runner's way* *This is what we're fighting for...* ---
Track 11
WORTH THE SCARS
The cleric's stitching up the fighter's shoulder in the galley light The paladin's armor's dented, but she made it through the night The wizard's out of spells, the rogue is nursing broken ribs The bard's got burn marks on her hands from cutting through the cribs The moon runner captain finds us in the early morning glow "That was close," she says quietly, "closer than you know" "The merchants will be hunting us with everything they've got" "Are you sure you want to keep this up? It's not too late to stop" Natural one on our physical condition tonight But natural twenty on knowing we did right These scars are worth it, every wound we bear These scars are worth it, showing that we care For every chain we've broken, for every soul set free These scars are worth it - they're proof of who we're meant to be Worth the scars! (Worth the pain!) Worth the scars! (We'd do it again!) When fifty people breathe free air tonight These scars are worth the fight! A woman from the rescue comes to where we're sitting down Her daughter's holding flowers picked from gardens in the town "I don't have words," she says with tears, "to thank you for your deed" "You risked your lives for strangers - that's heroism indeed" The little girl hands flowers to each member of our crew "You saved my mama," she says softly, "so these are all for you" The fighter tries to smile through the pain across her chest The paladin's crying freely: "This is why we do our best" Rolling high on understanding what this all means The scars we carry are our most important seams These scars are worth it, every wound we bear These scars are worth it, showing that we care For every chain we've broken, for every soul set free These scars are worth it - they're proof of who we're meant to be Worth the scars! (Worth the pain!) Worth the scars! (We'd do it again!) When fifty people breathe free air tonight These scars are worth the fight! We used to sail for glory We used to sail for pride We thought that being heroes Meant the law was on our side But now we know that heroism Sometimes means you bleed Sometimes means you sacrifice For someone else's need We're marked by the crown! (Badge of honor!) We're wanted by the law! (We sail on farther!) We're wounded and we're weary! But we've never been more sure! We're moon runners forever! And there's fifty reasons more! These scars are worth it, every wound we bear! These scars are worth it, showing that we care! For every chain we've broken, for every soul set free! These scars are worth it - they're proof of who we're meant to be! Worth the scars! (Worth the pain!) Worth the scars! (We'd do it again!) When fifty people breathe free air tonight! A hundred more are waiting in the fight! These scars are worth it! Every single one! *The cleric finishes the stitches* *The fighter tests her arm* *We're battered but we're ready* *To keep people safe from harm* *These scars tell our story* *Of the lives we chose to save* *We're moon runners forever* *From the shore to the grave...* ---
Track 12
THE LEDGER
The rogue breaks into a merchant office under cover of night She's looking for the shipping routes, manifests, and flight But what she finds instead makes her blood run cold A ledger full of numbers - human beings bought and sold She brings it back at dawn, lays it on the table for us all The wizard starts to read it and her face begins to fall "This isn't just one company - it's the entire merchant guild" "Thousands transported yearly, thousands more to be fulfilled" Natural twenty on investigation, now we see The scope of this evil across the entire sea This is the ledger, written in blood and gold This is the ledger, every story sold Names, prices, destinations, profits from the pain This is the ledger showing every link in their chain The ledger! (They kept score!) The ledger! (This is war!) Every page is evidence of their crime We're burning down their empire one run at a time! The paladin is reading names of nobles she once knew "These are lords and ladies, families of virtue too" "Or so I thought," she whispers, "they're all invested here" "The entire upper class profits from the fear" The bard finds payment records going straight to crown officials "They know," she says with fury, "this is systematic, judicial" "The law protects this practice, the law enforces it" "We're not fighting criminals - we're fighting the whole system's grit" Rolling high on understanding what we face This isn't just some bad merchants - it's embedded in the place This is the ledger, written in blood and gold This is the ledger, every story sold Names, prices, destinations, profits from the pain This is the ledger showing every link in their chain The ledger! (They kept score!) The ledger! (This is war!) Every page is evidence of their crime We're burning down their empire one run at a time! Ten thousand souls last year! Twenty thousand more projected! Children, families, workers! All systematically collected! The merchant guild makes millions! The nobles take their cut! The crown provides protection! And the whole system stays shut! We thought we were fighting smugglers! Then we thought we fought some merchants! But this ledger shows the truth! We're fighting the establishment's verdict! This is slavery! (With legal papers!) This is trafficking! (In royal favors!) This is genocide! (In business suits!) This is the system! (Time to execute!) This is the ledger, written in blood and gold! This is the ledger, and the truth must be told! Names, prices, destinations, we've got all the proof! This is the ledger - we're tearing off the roof! The ledger! (Copy every page!) The ledger! (Righteous rage!) The ledger! (Share it far and wide!) Every page is evidence - they've got nowhere to hide! This is the ledger showing what they are! This is the ledger - time to raise the bar! We're not just moon runners saving lives tonight! We're revolutionaries and we're bringing the fight! *The bard is making copies, sending them around* *The wizard's mapping networks, tracking every crown* *The fighter's getting ready for a bigger kind of war* *This ledger changes everything - we know what we're fighting for* *The ledger...* *Now we have the ledger...* ---
Track 13
THE TIDE TURNS
The ledger's posted in every port and town Sailors reading, workers passing it around "I knew something was wrong, now I've seen the proof" One by one they're joining us, breaking through the roof Naval crews are throwing down their badges to the sea Merchant sailors jumping ship, choosing to be free Dockworkers refuse to load the cargo anymore "Not one more soul in chains" - they're closing every door The truth is spreading like wildfire tonight More people joining the fight The tide turns! The tide turns! Can you feel it rising now? The tide turns! The tide turns! The people won't back down! From every port, from every shore The tide turns and we roar! The tide turns! The tide turns! More moon runners stepping up from harbors we never knew "We've been running the same routes, and we're standing with you" The merchants try to spin it but too many know the truth The nobles claim it's slander but we've got the proof The movement's growing stronger every day They can't make this go away The tide turns! The tide turns! Can you feel it rising now? The tide turns! The tide turns! The people won't back down! From every port, from every shore The tide turns and we roar! The tide turns! The tide turns! You can't stop the tide! You can't stop the sea! You can't stop the truth! When people choose to be free! What do we say? (No more!) What do we fight for? (Freedom!) What do we sail for? (Justice!) The tide turns! (Right now!) The tide turns! The tide turns! Can you feel it rising now? The tide turns! The tide turns! The people won't back down! From every port, from every shore! The tide turns and we roar! The tide turns! The tide turns! We're winning this war! *The tide is turning, feel the swell* *The tide is turning, break the spell* *The tide turns! The tide turns!* ---
Track 14
CORNERED BEASTS
The merchant fleet assembles, biggest armada we've seen They're not here for cargo, they're here to wipe us clean "They're cornered now," the moon runner captain says "Desperate people do desperate things" - we're facing what she dreads They've hired every mercenary, pulled every dirty trick The crown's provided warships, making the alliance sick But we've got something better - we've got people on our side Every moon runner, every freed sailor, standing in the tide Roll for initiative, this is the final fight Natural twenty - we're doing what is right Cornered beasts are dangerous, fighting for their gold Cornered beasts are vicious when their secrets have been told But we're fighting for the people, they're fighting for their greed Cornered beasts versus freedom - we're the ones they need! Cornered beasts! (They're desperate!) Cornered beasts! (They're reckless!) But we won't back down tonight! Cannonfire erupts across the bay in every direction Moon runner ships converging for the final confrontation The merchants form a blockade, trying to cut us off But we break right through the middle with our hearts held aloft The paladin is leading boarding parties left and right The fighter's on the rigging, swinging into the fight The wizard's casting storms to scatter merchant lines The rogue is freeing captives while the bard records the crimes They're rolling with advantage but we're rolling with belief We're the tide that's coming in, bringing relief Cornered beasts are dangerous, fighting for their gold Cornered beasts are vicious when their secrets have been told But we're fighting for the people, they're fighting for their greed Cornered beasts versus freedom - we're the ones they need! Cornered beasts! (They're desperate!) Cornered beasts! (They're reckless!) But we won't back down tonight! Ship by ship they're falling! Crew by crew they're turning! Their mercenaries see the truth! Their empire is burning! For every chain! (We fight!) For every name! (In the ledger's light!) For every soul! (We stand!) We're taking back the land! Cornered beasts bite hard! But we bite harder still! We've got justice on our side! And an unbreakable will! Cornered beasts were dangerous but we stood our ground! Cornered beasts were vicious but freedom's what we found! We fought for all the people while they fought for their greed! Cornered beasts versus freedom - and freedom's guaranteed! Cornered beasts! (They're broken!) Cornered beasts! (Truth has spoken!) We won't back down! We took them down tonight! *The smoke is clearing on the bay* *The merchant fleet retreats today* *Cornered beasts have lost their hold* *Freedom's worth more than gold* *We won...* *We won...* ---
Track 15
BREAK THE CHAINS
The merchant guild's main warehouse sits empty of its guards The ledger showed us where they kept the people locked and scarred We're sailing in with every moon runner on the sea Today we end this nightmare, today we set them free The doors are reinforced with locks and chains of steel But nothing's gonna stop us from this righteous deal The fighter kicks the entrance down, the wizard lights the way "Everyone get ready, we're freeing them today!" Natural twenty on liberation day The system's coming down, it ends today Break the chains! Tear them down! Break the chains! Spread the sound! Every lock is shattering, every door flies wide! Break the chains! Turn the tide! No more hiding, no more shame! Break the chains! Remember every name! This is liberation, this is how it ends! Break the chains, my friends! A hundred souls inside, then two, then three hundred more Families separated, children on the floor "We're moon runners," the paladin calls out strong and clear "You're safe now, you're going home, you've got nothing left to fear" The bard is documenting every face and every name The cleric's healing injuries and easing all their pain The rogue finds all the records, every trafficking route The wizard starts to burn it down - this place is going out Rolling high on justice as the building falls We're answering every freedom call Break the chains! Tear them down! Break the chains! Spread the sound! Every lock is shattering, every door flies wide! Break the chains! Turn the tide! No more hiding, no more shame! Break the chains! Remember every name! This is liberation, this is how it ends! Break the chains, my friends! Three hundred souls walking free! Three hundred souls finally see! The sun, the sky, the open sea! We've won! *Three hundred walking to the ships* *Three hundred free from trafficking's grip* *The warehouse burns behind our backs* *Break the chains - no turning back* *We did it...* *We broke the chains...* ---
Track 16
NEW WATERS
The crown officials scramble, trying to save their names The merchant guild is shattered, facing all their claims New leaders stepping forward, people who were freed "We're building something better, based on truth not greed" The dockworkers are organizing, taking back control The sailors form a union with a righteous goal "No more trafficking vessels, no more cargo holds with chains" "We're sailing into new waters, washing out the stains" Natural twenty on the future that we're building here The old system's gone, new waters are clear We're sailing new waters, charting brand new seas We're sailing new waters, finally we're free The old ways are behind us, broken on the shore We're sailing new waters, heading for something more New waters! SMUGGLER'S MOON
We set sail as soldiers for the crown Thought we knew who the villains were in town But the smugglers we were hunting were the heroes all along Now we sail beneath the moon singing freedom's song We were lawful good and proud of what we swore Till we saw the chains and couldn't ignore Had to choose between the law and what was right Now we're moon runners sailing every night We were wrong but we learned to see Sometimes good means breaking free Under the smuggler's moon, we found our way Under the smuggler's moon, here we stay From hunters to heroes, we changed our flight Under the smuggler's moon, we found the light Smuggler's moon! (Shining bright!) Smuggler's moon! (We found what's right!) Started as a crew without a home Now there's hundreds running routes we've shown We toppled the system built on lies and greed Built something better serving people's need Natural twenty on the choice we made From navy soldiers to the smuggler's trade Under the smuggler's moon, we found our way Under the smuggler's moon, here we stay From hunters to heroes, we changed our flight Under the smuggler's moon, we found the light Smuggler's moon! (Shining bright!) Smuggler's moon! (We found what's right!) Lawful doesn't always mean good Sometimes you break rules like you should We learned together what it means to stand For the people, hand in hand To every soul we saved! (We remember!) To every chain we broke! (We remember!) We're moon runners forever! Under the smuggler's moon! Under the smuggler's moon, we found our way! Under the smuggler's moon, here we'll stay! We're sailing free, we're sailing true! Under the smuggler's moon, me and you! *The moon is rising on the tide* *Moon runners sailing with pride* *Under the smuggler's moon...* *We found our way home...* --- ## BONUS TRACK: "BLUE SKY" Mama holds me close in the darkness down below I can hear the footsteps pacing up above us, to and fro She whispers "Stay quiet, stay still, don't make a sound" But I'm so scared in this cargo hold, chained and bound I don't remember sunlight, been so many days Just the creaking of the ship and the cold and the waves Mama says we're going somewhere bad when we arrive But she holds me tight and tells me "Baby, we survive" Then suddenly there's shouting, fighting on the deck Mama pulls me closer, says "Don't worry yet" Then the light breaks through! The door flies open wide! Blue sky! Blue sky! I can see the sky! Someone's cutting chains, someone says "You're free" Blue sky! Blue sky! That's what I can see! Fresh air on my face, sun warm on my skin Blue sky! Blue sky! My new life begins! A woman with kind eyes climbs down into our hold "You're safe now," she tells us, "Let me break these chains of old" Mama's crying happy tears, I've never seen her smile "Come on up," the woman says, "You've got a little while" She carries me up the ladder, Mama right behind And when I reach the deck, I can't believe my eyes The ocean's blue and endless, the sky goes on forever "Is this real?" I ask Mama, she says "We're together" The fighters tell us stories of the place we're going to Where kids can play and laugh all day and dreams come true I can see blue sky! The clouds are floating by! Blue sky! Blue sky! I'm learning how to fly! Someone says "You're free, you're going to be okay" Blue sky! Blue sky! This is my first day! Fresh air all around, waves beneath the ship Blue sky! Blue sky! This is my first trip! Mama says I'll go to school and learn to read and write Mama says we'll have a home with windows full of light She says I can run and play and never hide again She says the people on this ship are now our friends I ask "What's that called?" pointing at the sun She laughs and cries and says "That's freedom, hun" Blue sky!
